SPRING MEETING TUESDAY 7th APRIL, 2009 7.00pm YORK IBC EIBA Over 60 Liberty Cup The Secretary reported that he had sent a letter on behalf of the county to the EIBA requesting a change in the format of the competition to revert to a straight knock out with the match to be held at one venue. This would then replace the current round robin format. A reply has since been received that for the coming 2009/10 season, it will be retained in its present form followed by a review at the end of the season. O50s Interclub League Challenge Trophy It has been agreed that for next season, the tournament will be held at New Earswick IBC as they have agreed to sponsor the event. Election of Officers There were no new nominations for these positions and the current holders were unanimously elected to remain for another year. They all agreed to continue. Election of Selectors Malcolm Coupland, Metrodome, John Harrand, Selby, Unchanged Harry Gutteridge, Doncaster, Maurice Hebden, North Cave, Newly elected. A.O.B. North Cave and Featherstone raised the issue of participating teams for the Challenge Trophy . After a brief discussion it was agreed by a majority vote to change the format to Top 3 from Div.1 and the winners only from Div. 2 for the final. North Cave proposed that the age eligibility for the over 55 competition reverts to 30th September each year and this was passed unanimously. North Cave proposed that the method of selecting players for the county matches revert to a previous system whereby each club provided a single rink for selection. A discussion took place and it was mentioned that Yorkshire never won anything using this selection method and the clubs abused this system to assist their players in gaining their county badge. This proposal was not seconded and therefore failed. The senior calendar which had previously been circulated was discussed and a vote taken and passed to withdraw from the Northern Counties League. It was also agreed to play Durham for the John Dodsworth Trophy. The total matches for the season to be kept to 10.
